A Peanuts cartoon from decades ago has stayed with me. It went something like this:
In the first frame, Charlie Brown is in a slumped posture with his head down, and he says “This is my depressed stance.” In the next frame, he is standing tall and says, “As soon as you lift your head up, you start to feel better.” In the last frame, he slumps again and says, “So if you want to be depressed, remember to keep your head down.”
Haven’t we all experienced this relationship between how we sit and stand and our sense of wellbeing? In yoga this week let’s focus on lengthening our side body and nurturing an expanding sense of well-being.
