Our Offerings

At Willow Street Yoga Center, all of our teachers are committed to providing a safe and supportive environment for you to connect with yourself and join together in community, whether online or in person. Whether you are looking for yoga, vinyasa flow, meditation & mindfulness, pilates & movement, or something different...we have something for everyone at Willow Street Yoga Center!

Yoga

We offer Hatha yoga that focuses on the mind-body connection within the larger context of yoga practices. This includes movement, meditation, breathwork, and yoga philosophy.

Gentle

Gentle Yoga integrates therapeutically-oriented principles of alignment into gentle muscle toning and stretching, along with restorative postures, breath work, and meditation. Excellent for those working with injury, illness, or chronic pain or seeking a gentler class than Yoga 1, or anyone needing a space to restore and relax.

Yoga I-II

In our level 1-2 classes, we incorporate a range of asana poses, pranayama, and meditation. Classes will include energetic, philosophical, and spiritual approaches also. Clear and precise directions will be offered to support your strength and flexibility in your body and mind. This class is most appropriate for students with at least a basic understanding of and experience with these practices.

Yoga Fundamentals

Yoga Fundamentals offers a strong introduction to anatomy, yoga postures, breathwork, meditation, and yoga philosophy. You will learn more about your movement patterns and discover more ease, strength, and freedom in body and mind.

Yoga II

For continuing students who have a strong foundation from either a level 1 or experience in a level 1-2 class. All classes will explore a variety of asana (physical poses) including inversions and revolved poses as well as svadhyaya (self-study). Many weeks will include other components of yoga such as meditation, pranayama, and philosophical inquiry. We will explore and play with plenty of support along the way.

Yoga I

Yoga 1 introduces beginning and continuing students to principles of alignment and breathwork, primary poses, and yoga basics, including the use of props. Emphasis on accessing core strength and quieting the nervous system.

Aligned Vinyasa Flow

In our Aligned Vinyasa classes, you will focus on moving your body and breath together in a flow. Teachers will offer supportive guidance and creative sequences.

Aligned Vinyasa I

Our Aligned Vinyasa 1 class offers a low-key, balanced practice centered on breath-based movements. Students can expect an extra-long warm-up; a leisurely-paced practice that builds strength, flexibility, focus, and calm; and extra attention to breathing and meditation practices. This steadying practice benefits students of all levels, including beginners, but is not suited for students with acute injuries.

Aligned Vinyasa I-II

Our Aligned Vinyasa 1-2 class includes the practices of moving meditation that releases energy and cultivates calmness, strength, and connection between the body and mind. In this class, expect to transition from one pose to the next steadily and thoughtfully while syncing with the breath and focusing on alignment to protect joints, strengthen muscles and create space in the body, mind, and breath. This class is most appropriate for students with some experience with either Vinyasa or Hatha yoga.

Aligned Vinyasa II

Our Aligned Vinyasa 2 class offers a more strenuous approach to alignment-based movement with breath. A wide variety of asana (postures) and pranayama (breathwork) will be incorporated with interesting transitions between movements. This class is most appropriate for students with either Vinyasa or Hatha experience and a strong awareness (proprioception) of their bodies in the moment.

Something for Everyone

Our specialized classes retain our commitment to the core teachings of yoga but provide a niche for specific needs.

Baby & Me

Baby & Me Yoga offers postpartum strength-building exercises and breath-based techniques and relaxation for adults, as well as gentle movement for babies. Caregivers are encouraged to show up exactly as they are, as we acknowledge unique birth experiences and recovery journeys.

Classes are designed for all caregivers and postpartum parents (as early as they are comfortable and with doctor’s consent) and pre-crawling babies.

Rise & Shine

Come greet the day, salute the sun, and get those kinks out so you can get yourself up and moving! This is your chance to try out that early AM yoga class you’ve wanted to challenge yourself to do. The one hour will help you prepare for your day, and provide a fresh focus for breath, body, and mind to tackle all those to-dos on your list.

This class is appropriate for all levels. Come on, join in, and let's get up and get going!  Hope to see you there, to greet the day!

Yoga to Calm Your Nervous System

In this supportive class, you will focus on grounding, inner peace, and compassion for yourself and others. We do this through breath work, meditation, and postures designed to reduce anxiety and promote calm.

Healthy Back

Our Healthy Back class offers a  readily accessible, conscious, strength-building practice. This practice is for anyone who wants practical tools for a healthy back, as well as an exploration of core relationships in our body. You’ll leave with an understanding of how to work with these relationships and how they relate to your mind, breath, and even heart.

Yoga & Fascial Release

Fascia is the connective tissue that surrounds your muscles, blood vessels, and nerves. When it's healthy, fascia allows your muscles to slide and glide as you move. But when your fascia gets tight and stuck, it can restrict your movement. In this class, you'll learn how to release the layers of fascia in your body using special props, techniques, and yoga poses. We will also practice mindful ways to move that are healthy and safe for your hips, knees, and low back. Everyone is welcome.

Prenatal Yoga

Prenatal yoga offers the opportunity to relax, create space, and build strength and flexibility, while in community with other pregnant folks. Class will include physical movement, calming breathing practices, relaxation techniques, and an emphasis on mind/body awareness. Connect with other pregnant people to share resources, questions, ideas, and challenges.

Yoga & Functional Movement

This class features traditional yoga poses and functional movement to take us gently beyond habitual patterns while we regain a healthy range of motion, flexibility, and strength. We leverage various facets of breath with dynamic and static postures to enhance the effectiveness of the overall practice while building body awareness, reducing stress, and steadying the mind. Poses progress and can be adapted for more or less intensity as desired.

Meditation & Mindfulness

We offer several classes with a greater emphasis on meditation and mindfulness.

Meditation

Meditation is the practice of noticing and returning. Our breath provides a guide. Sensations in the body, thoughts that cloud the mind, and emotions that bring us pain may distract us from the breath, but the breath is always a place to return to for peace, calm, and recentering. Come join us for a variety of 30-minute meditation practices - some classes will provide guided meditations, others a Yoga Nidra focus, while others will allow you to just be in a silent practice in community.

Meditation & Yoga

Learn how to use yoga's various tools for a holistic approach toward balancing the body and calming the mind. This class is suitable for practitioners with some yoga experience who are looking to integrate breath-centric asana, pranayama, chanting, mudra, chakra work, specific kriyas, yoga nidra, and meditation in their yoga practice.

Mindful Yogic Parenting

This class is intended for parents and caregivers who want to build a community to take care of themselves and each other. These are particularly challenging times – managing our children, ourselves, our work, and our homes. Let’s join together in a yogic community to talk, move our bodies, breathe, meditate, and support each other. Appropriate for all levels of yogis.

Pilates & Movement

In addition to our yoga practices, Willow Street Yoga Center offers other movement modalities including Pilates and Dance.

Beginner Pilates

Pilates strengthens and stretches all the major muscles of our body including abdominals, hamstrings, lower and upper back, hips, arms, and legs. We also focus on our core muscles, our "powerhouse.”

Have you wanted to try Pilates? Or brush up on your previous experiences? In this class, we will cover the basics of Classical Pilates Mat Exercises each week. Modifications will be offered as needed so that you can safely access each exercise.

Mixed Level Pilates

This class is oriented toward advanced beginners and beyond, where there will be a flow from exercise to exercise focusing on reinforcing the core Pilates principles. Modifications will be provided to accommodate varying levels. The class will be grounded in the essential repertoire and will incorporate the intermediate repertoire.

Experience in Pilates Fundamentals or past Pilates experience is helpful, not for brand new Pilates students. Please be cleared by a health professional to exercise.

Let Your Yoga Dance

Let Your Yoga Dance combines gentle yoga and chakra-inspired dance movement (no complicated choreography) with music from around the world.  Guaranteed to boost your joy quotient in body, mind, and heart!  Dancing is a natural antidepressant, good for exercising balance, strengthening bones, and loosening your joints.  Fun and energizing for all ages, bodies, and abilities. No yoga experience or mat is necessary, just a little room to move.
