The Yoga Of Living: Brightening Our Lights of Discernment & Compassion
with Rod Stryker
Join Rod for a weekend intensive focused on the subtle incorporation of yoga asana (movement), pranayama (breathwork), meditation, and contemplation into our modern lives. The past few years have challenged us at practically every level: physically, emotionally, and no doubt, within our personal relationships and communities. If we are to meet these challenges, if we are to flourish, what are the essential practices of yoga and tantra that can light the path? What teachings are particularly relevant to help us meet this moment and to find grace in relatively ungraceful times? These are themes inspiring this weekend of practice, teaching, and community.

This workshop is appropriate for anyone with a desire to learn these traditions. Please register for either the whole weekend or one day. If you register for Saturday, a panel discussion with other local teachers is included. Lunch for Saturday can be provided at an additional cost. Additional details will be provided closer to the workshop.
Saturday & Sunday, September 9-10, 2023
Saturday Schedule:
Session 1 | 9:30 – 12:30 pm
Resolving the Knot of Attachment (Brahma Granthi)
Practice will emphasize establishing clarity and steadiness. Self-regulation and balancing our nervous system sets the stage for "letting go," a softening of attachment, and a contemplation/meditation to resolve anger and to move into deep peace and freedom.

Panel Discussion | 1:15 – 2:15 pm
Meeting This Moment Together: Cultivating Curiosity, Community & Strength
A conversation with leading teachers and colleagues. An opportunity to elevate our personal understanding while panelists share the practical aspects of living their yoga and teaching, discuss their concerns, the gifts of practice, learning from life's challenges, claiming our humanity, and a call for renewed community.

Session 2 | 2:30 – 5:00 pm
Illuminating the Heart––the Soul of Compassion
A specific sequence of asana and pranayama set the stage for contemplation and meditation. Emphasis is on the renewal of your vital force and capacity to give and receive nurturance and love.

Sunday Schedule:
Session 3 | 9:30 – 12:30 pm
Remembering Life’s Deeper Purpose––Dissolving Unconscious Patterns (Vishnu Granthi)
A practice to ignite authentic aspiration and insight. The practice culminates in a specific contemplation and meditation that enlivens freedom from limiting belief and an opening into boundlessness.

Session 4 | 2:30 – 4:30 pm
Assimilation and Balance––Renewing Self-Trust and Empowerment (Rudra Granthi)
Our final practice emphasizes twists and postures that help stabilize the body and mind. Specific techniques instill a clear and positive sense of the path ahead––how you will live your yoga and honor the best in yourself and one another.

Closing | 4:30 – 5:30 pm
An opportunity to first share reflections in smaller groups and then as a collective. The intention is to not only renew a sense of community but to promote your integration of the entire weekend.
