Gentle Yoga for Seniors

This class helps build strength, increase flexibility, improve balance, reduce stress, and enhance equanimity for older adults who may benefit from a slower pace, a wide offering of modifications, and a recognition of age-related functional changes.

We encourage students to use props, stay balanced, rest as appropriate, explore range of motion, transition slowly, and progress at their own pace. Since falls are a major cause of disability for seniors, special attention is paid to building core strength and balance. Breath work, relaxation and meditation are included to encourage stress reduction.

This class offers seated chair poses, standing poses, and floor work. Alternatives are available for those who cannot get up and down from the floor unassisted.

Beginners welcome.
